Joining the Nuclear Club

Iran has been accelerating their secret program to build operational nuclear weapons for one reason—and one reason alone: once a country has nukes, no one messes with that country ever again!

No one pre-emptively attacks and invades you—as the USA did to Iraq in 2003.

Iran saw what the Bush-led invasion did to their next-door-neighbor, Iraq—the dreaded term for dictators—regime change—and they wanted no part of the same possibility aimed their way. Thus they immediately went pedal-to-the-metal—in secret, or so they thought—to build nuclear weapons.

Possessing nuclear bombs deters aggression against you—and it allows you to intimidate your neighbors, i.e. Arab states with which Iran has never had particularly good relations since the 1979 Iranian Revolution brought the radical mullahs to power in Tehran. Saudi Arabia, in particular, has had frosty relations with the arrogant—and rich—leaders of Iran. And the Saudi Government recently told Israel in secret that they would allow Israel to fly over Saudi air space on their way to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Israel, while never officially acknowledging that they have several dozen nuclear weapons, is the only nuclear power in the Middle East. (Am not including Pakistan in the Middlea East; they are considered South West Asian.) That is yet another reason they have survived. Those weapons have indeed deterred the Arab nations from trying—yet again—some sort of coordinated massive invasion of Israel. The message has been clearly sent: you mess with us at your own peril.

Now Iran wants to be a nuclear power—and they brag and boast and bluster about “wiping Israel off the map” and seeing a “giant dark cloud” over Israel. What do they think Israel and the United States of America are going to do in the face of that rhetoric and the intelligence that shows them building thousands of underground centrifuges to extract fissionable material to make nuclear weapons?

Of course Iran has multiple problems. Their June 12 election fraud unleashed a long-simmering discontent by the Iranian people against a corrupt and brutal anti-modern regime. There is massive instability even a the highest level of that regime. “Regime change” was voted for by the Iranian people—and corruption and a rigged vote counting process kept it from happening. Do not be surprised in the coming months if that regime indeed falls. Their economy is wobbly; it is reported that even at the upper levels of leadership there is talk of replacing both the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, a mere political thug by the way who revels in the use of terror to keep the people in line, and his hand-picked President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, an awful “face of the Iranian people,” who was one of the so-called “students” who captured and brutalized the American hostages back in 1979-1980.

This Thursday—October 1—will be the first official talks between the US and Tehran since that seizure of the US Embassy back on November 4, 1979. The time has come to settle this issue—and in the process re-arrange the Iranian Government.

The word has seen the brutality of this corrupt regime. And the world—including the USA, Britain, France, Russia and even China—along with Israel—is not going to let this regime join the Nuclear Club.

John LeBoutillier Finally Takes Some Instruction From The I-Man

John LeBoutillier Finally Takes Some Instruction From The I-Man

Just for kicks, Imus told guest John LeBoutillier that last Thursday his doctors decided—by consensus—that he had just one more week to live. Proving his Harvard smarts, LeBoutillier said they were clearly wrong, since the I-Man was alive and well.

"The day's not over yet," Imus cautioned. "I could go any time."

To be serious, Imus told LeBoutillier, a former U.S. Congressman, that the cancer in his prostate was contained, and that there is no cancer in his lymph nodes or in his blood.

"I can live this way forever," he said. "Or until Charles shoots me."

LeBoutillier is on board with Imus's decision to treat his cancer holistically, and believes containment is the future of cancer management. Yet many people are freaked out by the idea of living with cancer inside their body for an extended period of time.

Fortunately for Imus, he's got way more evil things inside him than the cancer.

After a few more minutes of depressing cancer talk, where Imus said that without Deirdre he would have treated his prostate cancer with vodka and a carton of Marlboros, the two moved on to talk of the FOX Business Network.

"I cannot get over how smart the on-air people are about so many things," said LeBoutillier, no slouch himself. "I think I'm a complete moron after I listen to them."

As for Glenn Beck, LeBoutillier thinks he is very entertaining but is less certain about Beck's staying power. "We'll see in 30 years if he's still around the way you are," he said to Imus. "He is a hot, hot, hot fad at the moment but I don't know how long he'll last."

Unlike, say, Rush Limbaugh, who Imus and LeBoutiller agree is one of the greatest broadcasters in history. "For all his shtick, he does serious political analysis, and he does it very well," LeBoutillier added.

President Obama spoke at the United Nations yesterday, and did what LeBoutillier said he does everywhere: "He thinks by not being George W. Bush, that's enough."

The proof, however, will be in the pudding. "Can he make substantive changes in Afghanistan?" LeBoutillier posed hypothetically. "Can he stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons? Can he get anywhere on the Middle East thing?"

LeBoutillier thinks he might have a shot on the Iran issue because Russia is now involved. "Let me put it to you this way," he told Imus. "I don't want to cross you, but I would rather cross you than Vladimir Putin."

Imus was thrilled with this clever line, but was even more thrilled that LeBoutillier did not employ his tired dark room analogy. Actually, we're all pretty psyched about that.

John LeBoutillier on “Imus in the Morning” Thursday

The Political World Needs an Adult

After the Bill Clinton Years of immaturity and sexual misconduct, the G.W. Bush Frat House Years filled with excessive federal spending and wars based on lies and now a clearly in-over-his-head Barack Obama and his Let‘s Spend Everything We Have Now—including our money and his political capital—program, the American political world needs an adult voice, an experienced and wise hand at the rudder who knows what to do and how to do it and, most importantly, what not to do.

Recent history tells us much abut this situation:

After more than a dozen disastrous years of LBJ and Richard Nixon, Watergate and Vietnam, the nation looked for something “different”—and settled on former one-term Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter.

He soon proved to be in clearly over-his-head.

So the nation searched again in 1980 for the antidote to Carter and we found it is the previously-unelectable former movie actor Ronald Reagan.

In other words, things were so bad that the nation went with someone who, in more normal times, would not have been seen as “electable.” And it worked out! Reagan proved to be much better than even his critics had expected. His age, the vicissitudes of his up-and-down career and marriages and his years of working for conservative causes had created a wise, experienced leader who earned the respect of almost all people once they got to know him directly—not through the filter of a biased, liberal news media.

Now cut to 1999. The Clinton-Gore years were coming to an end. The Republicans were mortified over the thought that Al Gore might win in 2000 and continue the Clinton Legacy. So they orchestrated the most amazing spectacle: hundreds of GOP officials and elected leaders traipsing down to Austin to beg George W. Bush—as if he was the New Savior—to run for the GOP nomination. This charade was all a scripted masterpiece by the Bush Family which held the levers of power inside the national GOP back then.

The image-meisters morphed G.W. Bush into the Son of Reagan, replete with the obligatory ranch, cowboy boots, belt buckle and halting diction.

Only he was no Ronald Reagan.

He turned out to be the anti-Reagan.

He almost single-handedly destroyed conservatism and the Republican Party.

Instead of repeating all that happened over the past 8 years, suffice to say that the Bush Administration so screwed up things that they made two previously un-electable candidates—Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton—into viable candidates for the White House.

The Left preferred Obama and morphed him into their version of the New Savior—The One—the New Messiah.

Eight months into his Administration, it is clear he really has no clue how to run anything. He has taken a vast reservoir of political capital and popularity—handed to him not for anything he has ever done in his life or in his political career—and frittered it away.

His throwing everything into this health care debate at this time of a sour economy makes no sense at all. He was elected in the midst of a financial meltdown that was not caused by the health insurance industry. So why spend all his political capital on this—now—including hundreds of speeches and Sunday’s almost-full Ginsberg spate of morning TV appearances?

Because he really is too inexperienced—and too young—to know better.

The wisdom earned through the ups and downs of political battles won—and lost—is not in Obama.

The knowledge of political history is not in Obama. His team just wants to not repeat G.W. Bush’s mistakes—as if that alone will make Obama a success.

It won’t.

So, looking at the future, here is where we are headed:

The Democrats will lose double-digit seats in the House in 2010 but probably not enough to lose control. (The Bush Hangover is still too strong for the nation to revert to GOP control.)

If the economy rebounds and starts to improve substantially by the second half of 2011 or early 2012—and that is most measured by new job creation and the public “believing” things are indeed getting better—then Obama has a real chance of winning a second term.

But, if we continue this feeling of sourness, then he will be in Big Trouble.

However, you can’ beat somebody with nobody. To defeat Obama in 2012 there must be a better candidate who is seen as wise, experienced, knowledgeable, steady and capable of settling down a political system which appears to be out-of-control.

None of the present-day GOP names fit this bill. Nor do they need to—yet. We have a long, long way to go before we need a New Leader.

But the country cannot afford to lurch back-and-forth between Presidents who do not have a clue how to behave or how to run the Federal Government.

We need a new candidate who truly is The One—the one who knows how to use the Presidency to address our problems in a coherent, logical manner—and who knows that most of these problems come from the government itself!

So don’t give up hope. Carter gave us Reagan. Maybe Obama will give us someone who can get this country back on track.

The Wilson Incident: They All Lie

The outrage over Representative Joe Wilson (R. S.C.) and his rude outburst last Wednesday night during President Barack Obama’s speech has done much inside the political system:

1) Focused Democrats and Republicans on the issue of illegal aliens getting free health insurance. Prior to the Wilson Incident, this issue had been glossed over in both the House and Senate. In fact, Democrats twice rejected GOP moves to tighten enforcement provisions to guarantee that illegals would not be eligible for any freebies the Federal Government makes available. But since Wilson’s outburst, this thorny issue has indeed been put on the radar screen; his week negotiators in the Senate were going to address this illegal immigration aspect of the health care issue.

2) Shown the incredible power of the Internet. In the first four days after Wednesday’s incident, Wilson’s 2008 and likely 2010 Democrat opponent raised a whopping $700,000 online; Wilson trumped him and raised $850,000. And the money keeps rolling in—as both have used the incident to do active fund-raising events, sell T-shirts, bumper stickers etc. Pro-Wilson forces are running fund-raising ads on the top of The DRUDGE REPORT and elsewhere.

3) Demonstrated that out-of-the-norm behavior—that is behavior which shocks and is often deemed rude and inappropriate—works! If this heretofore totally unheard of Congressman hadn’t been inspired to do something he should not have done then none of the above happens.

Just look at Kanye West’s rude behavior on the MTV Music Award Show Sunday night! He was way, way off-base—and is being rewarded for it by getting tons of free publicity today.

4) Now, as to the issue that caused the outburst in the first place: the giving of free health care to illegals—or giving them any any other tax-payer paid benefits. This brings up the entire immigration issue, which is bedeviling Americans and non-Americans alike. It is disgraceful that we cannot or have not secured our borders. It is awful for Hispanic-American citizens to be ‘lumped into the pot’ and discriminated against because of anger against those who cut the line and broke the law to come to this country.

There is palpable anger all across our nation over illegals under-cutting the labor market, over-loading hospital emergency rooms, and their children increasing the load on public elementary and high schools.

This overall illegal immigration problem needs to be addressed—and soon—by our political system. The key is to control future access to our border before we then decide what should be the status of the 30-40 million illegals here today.

With the ham-handed and incompetent way the Obama Administration has handled the health care issue and budget items gives all of us no confidence that they would make the right decisions here either.

5) Will expand on this theme later, but we can see over and over again that when the Republican Party/conservative movement is weak, vacillating or ineffective, then there is no Moral Center and thus the nation spirals downward. This has happened in the individual states, to. Look at California and New York. No sooner does the GOP implode through arrogance or missteps that the Democrats win and the state then goes kaplooey. It is as if the moral center ceases to exist.

When the Bush-led GOP went off the tracks in 2002, the nation began a steady decline which culminated in two successive Democratic sweeps in 2006 and 2008.

And look now at the result of those victories—and the absence of a moral center in the form of a responsible Republican Party.

More on this soon.

Check Out Imus’ Take on John LeBoutillier

John LeBoutillier on Sen. Kennedy’s Death: “The World Has Changed”

Imus has grown to love former New York Congressman John LeBoutillier, and was excited to learn that LeBoutillier, who now writes for Newsmax.com, has always considered running again for public office.

"I would vote for you!" Imus declared. "I don't generally vote for right-wing nuts, but you're not a right-wing nut."

LeBoutillier served just one term, from 1981-83, and blamed his failed reelection bid on unfavorable redistricting. While not happy his new friend had lost, Imus was relieved to find out it was not because of "a live boy or a dead girl" in his past.

Senator Edward M. Kennedy passed away late last night, succumbing to the brain cancer he was diagnosed with last year. Though a staunch Conservative, LeBoutillier acknowledged the lasting impact Kennedy, the quintessential Democrat, had on America.

"That generation of Liberals is over," he said. "The world has changed."

Word around town in Washington has always been that despite Kennedy's ideologies and his politics, he was, according to LeBoutillier, "as nice a guy as anybody knew," and "the one guy in the Senate you would want to sit down and have a drink with."

It was Kennedy's powerful endorsement of Barack Obama in February of 2008 that many say led to Obama's ultimate defeat over Hillary Clinton in the primaries.

"Obama was more liberal than Hillary, and Ted Kennedy, in his heart, was an ideological, left-wing liberal, and he made no secret about it," LeBoutillier said, adding that Kennedy's lifelong passion was national health care reform, an issue now plaguing Obama.

LeBoutillier believes the President's biggest problem has been not taking charge of the issue. "He says he wants reform, but he'll leave the details to Congress," he said. "The problem with that is there are 535 members of Congress, and every one of them has their own take on the thing."

Someone with prior executive experience, he added, would have laid out a stronger, more specific agenda. When Imus pointed out that Congress would have been disruptive anyway, LeBoutillier shot back, "Not so much," snapping at a man who—haven't you heard?—is battling cancer.

Feeling sad about Kennedy's death, Imus was somewhat consoled by the idea that LeBoutillier might run for office again someday, and promised to do his best to help.

"We've got to keep you visible!" he told his guest.
